Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (also known as Golden Rock)

The Golden Rock is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site in the
Mon State. Believers claim that the large boulder was placed
on the cliff 2500 years ago, by two nat (Burmese spirits).
Atop the gilded boulder is a 5.5 m (18 ft) pagoda, which is
believed to contain a hair of Buddha. The boulder can slightly
be moved by a single person. It is the Buddhist believe,
that Buddha's single hair keeps the rock in balance.

The following shot is from Wkipidia, to show how the rock
usually looks like, while we were there, the rock was re-
gilded, which happens about every 5 years, especially
after severe Monsoon rains. That's why you can see
the Bamboo scaffolding.
